Cookies 2013

Since January of last year, I have been eating according to the principles of the primal/paleo way... it seemed hypocritical to bake my usual repertoire of cookie recipes this year.
So I skipped the cookie deluge and made some paleo treats.

I did break the dietary restrictions by baking an AMAZING fruitcake with a fellow ex-pat.

I got a tiny cake to taste the fruits of our labor.

so yummy!!

Cookies 2012

I invited a new friend over to bake cookies in 2012.
I was very sick with a bad cold. I don't remember much about the day, except that it was actually challenging to think about ingredients with my brain so wonky.

Good thing I've made these cookies so much, because we ended up with a nice big haul!

Proud!

No Cookies 2011

It seems I did not bake any cookies this year...
I think our trip to Bali got in the way of annual traditions.

Cookies 2010

It seems I have been negligent posting about my end of year cookie baking, so I'm going to catch up.

In 2010, I baked cookies with my neighbor and her youngest daughter.

"cooking" by cooling in the fridge:

The results!

The taster...

"Good!"

Cookies 2009

Baking cookies each year at the holidays became a tradition for me many years ago. Even though I don't live close enough to partner in crime to do cookies with her, we wanted to continue the tradition by making a cookie swap. Last year was a solo attempt in a small loft kitchen. This year I had help, and baked for two days in the kitchen of my home. Here are the results. Ready to be packed up tomorrow for shipping.

Cookies 2008

Well, this year I had to bake cookies without my girls. It took all day to make the 6 types. I forgot to take the photo while they were layed out, so here they are boxed up. If you want to see cookies from the past, here's the link.

Cookies - a retrospective reposted

2003-1
2003
A couple years ago, my friend's mom got really sick, and she decided that she needed a holiday tradition to substitute for the family ones that she knew would be going away. Beth joined us for a little bit that year.

So we decided to bake Holiday Cookies! The next year, she was pregnant and I was sick, but we decided to do it anyway; because you can't have a tradition if you don't actually do it every year. I don't think Beth made it this year, but she can correct me if I'm wrong.

Her son was nearly a year, and so well behaved that he just sat on the carpet all day and played while we baked. Beth also started to join us full force!

At over 1, the little guy needed a babysitter!

and so she made it into the photo with my mom (who is always a HUGE help with washing up)

And this year! 100% me and the girls!

I had to repost this because Blogger messed up the photos; and I couldn't fix it!

Cookies revisited

Two things:
1. I figured out how to put a blog onto my.yahoo.com so that you can see if someone has updated. The only thing is they have to have the "site feed" preference turned on.... so comeon... turn it on!! and put the post on your site for the URL so that I can link to it!

2. The cookies are baked!! We started at 8:30am, Beth and I did the groceries, and then Elliott and Kathryn arrived, and we baked until about 2pm. It took a while to prep the boxes etc. Whew! What a lot of cookies!!
